What is Biro’s vehicle category?

A standard belongs to category L6e, light electric quadricycles. A Biro Bold belongs to the category L7e, heavy electric quadricyle (Europe).

Do you need a driver's license to drive Birò?

Absolutely!

Where can I park Birò?

Birò is a small size quadricycle,therefore it can be parked anywhere where you can park mopeds, including the small spots since the Birò will fit perfectly. However, it is recommended to contact your local council on how to best take advantage of this feature.

Do I have to pay car tax? And do I have some benefits?

Since Birò is equipped with electrical motors you might have certain benefits in your country. But we suggest you to contact your local council, as rules among different countries may vary.

Is it possible to drive freely on the road without doors?

Of course! Birò is approved to drive without doors. It is therefore possible to drive freely on the road even when you removed the doors (a very simple operation).

Are seat belts mandatory?

Estrima equips all Biròs with safety belts. In the L6e and L7e categories the sealt belts must be worn while driving (Europe).

Can two people ride in a Birò?

Birò is approved for two people, and has two seats next to each other. In Italy the driver has to be 16 years old and must have AM driving license for moped.

Can a child or child car seat be transported in a Birò?

Children who are smaller 150cm must be secured in a child safety seat, appropriate to their weight. Contact your local authority for motor vehicles for specific requirements, as this might vary among countries. If the child safety seat can be placed in the Birò, then it is possible to transport a child or a child car seat.

Can you find storage compartments in the Birò?

Biro’s Winter and Summer versions are both equipped with numerous storage compartments:

– Compartment located behind the seats (41L)

– Compartment located in the back of the car, with key lock (41L). Only available for Biro models with maxi lithium batteries.

– Additional small compartment.

Only the Biro Big and Biro Box models have a compartment located behind the seats with a 300-litre capacity.

Can you drive up steep climbs with a Birò?

Birò is able to tackle slopes up to 20%, thanks to the ‘’Boost’’ function it is possible to supply deliver more power, using the two 4kW brushless motors. Particularly demanding climbs can be tackled for a limited time and with fully charged batteries. The constant and continuous use of the ‘’Boost’’ function leads to a faster deterioration of the main battery.

Can you increase the maximum speed of a Birò?

No you cannot. Birò complies with European law and is approved to reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h (L6e version) and 60 km/h (L7e version). For this reason modifications the the maximum speed cannot be made, it would also void the warranty of the vehicle.

Is Birò subject to periodic maintenance?

Since rules among different countries may vary we suggest you to contact our local dealers, the nearest Birò store in your city. Or you could contact the state authority for motor vehicles.

Does Birò require a lot of maintenance?

Being an electric vehicle, the necessary maintenance is minimal and concerns mostly the mechanical elements of the vehicle. In general, good and proper maintenance contributes to safer driving and ensures the quality and performance of the vehicle over time.

Who should I contact to receive assistance?

We suggest you to contact the dealer where you purchased your Birò. If there where no intermediaries and you purchased the Birò directly from the factory we suggest you to contact our support, by filling in the following form: www.estrima.com/service/it. Once you completed and send the form, a technical assistance representative will contact you as soon as possible.

Is it possible to install some of the more advanced technical features (designed for the latest Biro models) on an older Birò model?

It depends on the type of intervention required. The Estrima network is available to assess each individual case and provide the best possible solution for the needs of each customer.

Charging
If after charging the charger is left connected, can it damage the battery?

For all new Birò models with a Birò card reader installed, there is no risk of damaging the battery; in fact, leaving the vehicle on charge is recommended. On the contrary, for older Birò models without a Birò card reader it is not recommended to leave the vehicle on charge for more than 72 hours consecutive. Regardless of the version, it is recommended to recharge fully once a week.

What should I do if I don't use a Birò for a long time? Do the batteries run out when the Biro is not in use?

If Birò is not used for long periods, it is necessary to avoid leaving the vehicle with a discharged or partially charged battery, especially when the outside temperature is low. Make sure that the batteries are fully charged and ensure that the Birò is charged at least once every three months, this will compensate for the self-discharge of the batteries. Before leaving the vehicle unused for long periods, remember to disconnect the “buffer battery” located under the engine hood following the instructions in the service and maintenance manual provided.

What is the maximum voltage to charge the Birò battery?

Do I have to change my electrical system to recharge Birò?

With Birò no modification is necessary.

What kind of electrical socket is used to recharge Birò?

A traditional 220V domestic outlet.

What are the factors that affect the battery duration?

Battery duration depends on multiple factors, including: the outdoor temperature, driving style, tyre pressure, correct adjustment, cleanliness of the brakes, type of journey and passenger weight.

What is the warranty for Birò's lithium batteries and their life expectancy?

Lithium batteries are guaranteed by Estrima for 24 months or 1,000 cycles of recharge, whichever occurs first. Battery life depends on several factors, including those related to their usage. Their life expectancy is approximately 40,000 km for the Re-Move battery and 50,000 km for the Maxi battery.
